Welcome to Year 3!
We are all very excited about the forthcoming year ahead which will certainly prepare your child well for their journey through Key Stage 2. In Year 3 we have lots of interesting and creative learning planned. The majority of our lessons are topic based which provide cross curricular opportunities and involve lots of fun.
Autumn Term 1 Planning Booklet
Our home school relationship is paramount and we aim to keep you regularly updated with news and events. We will be setting regular home learning tasks and ask that you kindly support your child with this and communicate how they get on.
We gladly welcome parents into our year group to hear children read or offer support during lesson time. If you are able to offer some time, please contact the school office or the class teacher to arrange a suitable time.
We really look forward to working with you and your child this year and hope it is a year that they will treasure with fond memories.

Help at home
In Year 3, we encourage the children to practice their spellings, times tables and handwriting as often as possible at home. This will develop the children's confidence in these areas. After focusing on telling the time on analogue and digital clocks in maths recently, we would appreciate any extra support at home!
Practice lots of different maths topics by visiting the following websites:
On Friday 7th September, we made an incredible start to our new topic all about the extravagant Egyptians. We had a great time at an extravagant ball and even had our own fashion show! However, there was a mystery to be solved. Whilst enjoying the ball, someone had lost a ruby rose red shoe which sparkled like the sun. Who did it belong to?
Visit from The Hobgoblin Theatre
Year 3 were so lucky to have a visit from The Hobgoblin Theatre who performed 'The Curse of the Mummy'. They put on an amazing show all about a suspicious amulet that went missing! The children thoroughly enjoyed the show and took part in some acting themselves.
The Egyptian Cinderella
This half term we are exploring 'The Egyptian Cinderella' story by Shirley Climo. The children have been thinking about how to describe the characters and retell the story in their own words. This week, children will begin to re-write the story adding their own descriptions to bring the story alive! We are looking forward to reading these!
Scrumdiddlyumptious! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Summer 2
WOW! What a super start to our final topic! We made some excellent Rocky Roads with our own Scrumdiddlyumptious inventions! We are looking forward to describing our very own sweets and our own machines that will make our sweets and put this all together for the best, most delicious story of Year 3 yet! We can't wait to get started!
